Frequently Asked Questions about the COVID-19 Vaccine

A common question about the vaccine – does it cost anything? The answer is – it is free.

The Self Advocacy Resource and Technical Assistance Center has a plain language booklet created by and for people with intellectual disabilities with information people need to know about the COVID-19 vaccine. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has many resources, including a page that answers people’s most frequently asked questions about the vaccine.

Please check with your doctor to discuss if getting the vaccine is right for you.

Who Can Get the Vaccine in Texas

The CDC recommends the following:

Everyone ages 6 months old and older can get a COVID-19 primary series vaccine.
If eligible, everyone ages 5 years old and older can get a booster.

Where to Get the Vaccine in Texas

There are various places to get the vaccine. The VaccineFinder on Vaccine.gov can help you find a place to get a vaccine.

If you need help finding where to get the vaccine, you can contact our Vaccine Access Navigators by calling 1-800-880-8401 or emailing vaccine@drtx.org. They can help you sign up to get the vaccine, arrange transportation options, and address any barriers you might face that prevent you from getting the vaccine. The navigators can also answer any vaccine-related questions you might have.
